New York City Library

Last Tuesday one of my co-workers told me he had a early wedding gift for me...............which turned out to be not so much a "wedding present" and more of a "just because gift."

SATC DVD

Yeah - I have watched it five times already!

Turns out that you can indeed have a wedding at The New York Library:

{DIY} Church Pew Decoration: Pom Poms

Pew Decore

This is a great and easy pew decoration that Amanda (or better known as username:vintageglam99 from Theknot.com) created for her March 2008 wedding. Her site is full of great ideas, style clues and money saving advice. The following are step-by-step instructions (from two sources, Amanda's site and from the origination of the project Marthastewart.com) on how to recreate these wonderful flower pomanders.

For this project you will need:
  1. Tissue paper
  2. 24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire
  3. Styrofoam balls
  4. A hot glue gun and hot glue
The size of the Styrofoam ball depends on how large you want you want your pomanders to be. For Amanda's project, she used 5" balls.
Pom PomsFirst you have to make several (and by several, I mean a massive amount) of these pom poms.

Pom Poms1. Stack four sheets of tissue. Cut a 10-by-5-inch rectangle, going through all layers. Make 3/8-inch-wide accordion folds.

Pom Poms2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, slip over center of tissue, and twist to secure. Trim ends of tissue.

Pom Poms3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

Pom Poms4. Bend wire into a loop to fit around napkin, and twist end around loop to secure.

Pew Pom PomsFor the ribbon, cut 10" of wire then twist around the ribbon. Use a skewer to poke a hole on the Styrofoam ball before placing the wire with hot glue.

Pew Pom PomsLeave an extra 1/2" of wire from the tissue flowers to attach the flowers onto the ball, with the help of hot glue.

Pew Pom PomsFor each pomander you will probably use about 40 flowers (5"x10" strips of tissue paper).
The Final Result!

Today by Joshua Radin

Lyrics:
Shoelaces untied
You can dry your eyes
Perfect shadows alive
Behind us
This is the day i make you mine

The way your hair lies
sometimes unrecognized
All the way from these today
on a train
Nothing to say if theres still time

But you are the one
I've been wating for today
And here comes the sun
That's been baiting on today

Lately i've lost my tongue
Today you found the sun
I know not long has grown
Well i thank god u came along

But you are the one
I've been waitng for today
And here comes the sun
That's been baiting on today

You looked right through me
When there was no one else
I sat beside you and became myself
Today... today

You are the one
I've been waiting for today
And here comes the sun t
Thats been baiting on today

And in Local News - The Old Granite Hotel, Winder, GA

My Grandmother was on Yahoo News this morning and saw this article about Winder, GA (the area where we are getting married and the reception will be held.)

Anyway, if you have a few minutes to read the article I would just like to proudly add that "Winder developer Mitch Williams" of M.W. Enterprises Unlimited is my Momma's baby brother! Yeah for Uncle Mitch

Old hotel seen as the rock of Winder's rebirth:
WINDER - The Old Granite Hotel, the century-old guest house on North Broad Street, has long served as a reminder of Winder's prosperous past as a textile-manufacturing center.

But while some see the building as an emblem of boom days gone by, Winder developer Mitch Williams sees the building as the cornerstone of the city's plan for downtown revitalization. Click here to read more....

Here is a photo and a old postcard of the area!

Floral Failure

I recently decided to not hire a florist and with the help of my MOH and her momma do my own flowers! This weekend I spent entirely too much time and money at Joann's in the floral department looking for the just the right vase, floral supplies and inspiration.
I really thought this was going to be easy!

Monday night I spent several hours scoring the internet for instructions and how-tos. I found a couple and after reading them over several times I felt confident to try my hand at this floral architecture!

The end result - failure...........my flowers look like a drunk person did them!

DIY Floral ArrangementDIY Floral Arrangement
These flowers do not say - "Welcome to our wonderful day" - They say "Hello, drink another I will have, yep"

Liana and I are getting together this Thursday for another trial - hopefully it will reassure me this was a good idea!

Places Please

Jason and I originally were looking to have a cocktail style reception, however we kept coming back to wanting place cards for our guest. There are so many cute options out there.

“Hello Lover”

Our color scheme is espresso, peach and ivory. My bride's maid are wearing espresso and the guys will wear a peach tie. I think I already know the answer to this question - but - what color should my shoes be?

Let the craziness begin!

After taking a very much needed break from planning and searching for all the fun details – I am back in full force. I couldn’t imagine having more than six months to plan a wedding.

My wedding planning/Summer vacation
I had 31st Birthday Party with my good friends:
Liana and Mike at Fontains
Helped out Liana and her mother with her little sister’s wedding in Ohio:
Laurel Lehman's Wedding
Went on the annual family Florida vacation:
Historic Polo Field Entrance in Daytona Beach Shores
Helped Jason move out of his apartment into his parent’s house (temp housing for the next three months):
Jason Moving !

Break over!
For the next 68 days (leaving 7 full days before the wedding for rest and packing for the honeymoon) I will be a flower picking, cake flavor decision maker, seating chart creator, menu card designer, bride’s maid goodies shopper, groom’s men suit organizer, regular gym going, future groom moving service, menu decider, drink mixologist, out-of-town gift basket architect, reception set-designer, occasional tanning bed visitor and co-wedding vow writer.
Two words people – BRING IT!

Details, Details

With 75 days left as a Miss and most of the major decisions made all the fun details are starting to take shape:
