Since 1984 my family has traveled south to Sunny Florida, and that is where I am this week. Happy Labor Day!

Remember: suck it in, "girls" up, and wear a big smile. You're on film, baby... gotta look hot for future generations.

According to my handy dandy time table I downloaded from Russell + Hazel, at month eight I was to "Start work out routine."

Well..........we decided to plan this whole shindig in six months. The first two months (May & June) weren't spent agonizing over important details: like when are we getting married, where are we getting married, who is paying for all this! The month of July was my Birthday month - so there is no productive work allowed during this time (a rule I enacted in 1985 and have stuck to since then.)

So here I am, 86 days out until the big day. I have not started my work out routine (I don't think a pity 15 minute bike ride at the gym counts) and I am pretty sure that the stress eating is adding the lbs on to my rear-end.

The one thing I did not like about my dress was my arms. That is where this website come One Hundred Push Ups in!

Why Push Ups?

Push ups are one of the basic and most common exercises for the human body. Push ups are not only great for your chest, but do a tremendous job of defining your abs, triceps, shoulders and torso.
So - I will update my progress..........once I start........errrr.........next week!

"The Wedding Price" - WARNING - CURSE WORDS PRESENT!

So I am lining up my hair and make-up for the day of and I just got off the phone with a salon inquiring about price and this was the conversation:

Them: Good Afternoon, thank you for calling XYZ Salon, how can I help you?
Me: Yes, I would like to get information on pricing for a hair style?
Them: For an up do?
Me: No, just a style, no up do. For a down do
Them: It would be $30
Me: Oh, wow, that's not bad, and what about make-up, do you all do make-up as well?
Them: Yes, we do, the girl who does that charges $30.
Me: Great! I would like to schedule an appointment to come in for a trial run. And, would you all be able to accommodate for a bridal party? I have four girls who would need make-up and hair and my wedding is at 4pm. Is there just one person to do the make-up?
Them: Oh, this is for a wedding?
Me: Yes
Them: Well, we have pricing for weddings............please hold
Me: Ok
Them: {Muffeled sound, garble talk, muffeled sound, more garble talk..............}
Them: For a wedding, it will be $75
Me: Ugh
Them: For a wedding, it will be $75
Me: So you are charging more because it is a wedding
Them: This is just our set wedding price
Me: Um, OK, well thank you for your time -
My Phone: CLICK! {Disgusted!}

Fake Out

How fun are these wall decals by Elephannie from Etsy?

What'll ya have, ya'll

Style Me Pretty
After seeing this great post on Style Me Pretty I seriously thought about having my home town's iconic fast food restaurant, The Varsity, caterer our reception (or somehow be part of it if not take care of the entire menu.)

If you have been to my great city at any point in the last 80 years, then I am sure someone has suggested that you stop by to hear one of the car hops or cashiers yell out "what'll ya have, what'll ya have."

The Varsity

I have vivid memories of making the trip with my next door neighbor, Mrs. Norton, waiting for a hour just to have Flossy Mae wait on us while we poured down FO's and devoured onion rings with our slaw dawgs. He would have candy on his hat that we would snack on during the drive home.

The Varsity

The Varsity celebrated their 80th birthday two weeks ago!

My lovely fiance used his veto power to poo poo the idea of having their catering trucks pull up to our reception site - but I still think it would have been cool!

Have fun storming the castle!

I love the Princes Brides. It is truly one of the best modern day classics!

My mom used to say that when I got married, she was going to pay the preacher to start the ceremony with "Louve - thru Louve!"

If you haven't seen this movie - you have to check it out!

The Princess Bride

Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can fuss.
Fezzik: ...fuss...fuss... I think he likes to scream at us.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no harm.
Fezzik: He's really very short on charm.
Inigo Montoya: Oh, you've a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we'll all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: AARRGGHH!!

If I had an unlimited supply of money........

......I would hire the following for our day:

Layer Cake Films is fo sho not your cousin Freddie video production company.
Layer Cake Films
Layer Cake Films is a super 8mm wedding film company. They embrace offbeat couples that want their film edited to The Dead Kennedy's and not Celine Dion. "Though we can do that for you too."
They have great examples on their website and they have a neat blog.
Because the founder loves cake - all the package names are related to the sweet dessert!
If money were no object; I would get their "Red Velvet" package..........YUM!
Layer Cake Films
Preston Bailey - One word - three syllables; FAB-U-LOUS!
Preston Bailey logo
Known for taking anyplace and 'completely transform raw, ordinary spaces into sumptuous, theatrical environments, translating his clients’ fantasies into awe-inspiring reality." (his words - not mine.)
Knowing this man, AKA Mr. Fabulous, is THE event designer to the celebrities, I looked and looked for something to say what his average fees are. I couldn’t find anything leading me to believe that it is one of those “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it" deals!
He did Mr. and Mrs. (the third) Trump's wedding. Enough said - we are so way out of his desired tax bracket!
Preston Bailey
While I know there is something to be said for the satisfaction of a job well done and knowing you are responsible for the end result in DIY projects; sometimes I secretly wish that there was a huge money tree outside of my home that would allow me to just hire the professionals to take care of the details.

Party Dress

Jason and I are going to have to change before we leave the reception to go the hotel. I am between a nice suit or a party dress!!!!

Our soon to be New Nest

Jason and I are going to buy a house pronto after we get hitched. Other than having the fun of decorating a new home, I can't wait to send out the change of address notices to everyone!

I have just been waiting for the perfect excuse to buy moo.com mini cards. I think this would be the ideal to announce that we have a new home!

You can load your own photo from Flickr.com or choose a stock image from some very talented artist. You can even have the cards made from 100% recycled material!

"The MOO Green card is 100% recycled. This paper is uncoated, revealing the paper texture. This is an un-flecked, non-reflective paper, with a more traditional matt feel."
I would probably use a photo we have or make my own design - but I think these are cute too!

Center Piece Idea

After looking at yet another very pricey quote for table center pieces not only am I thinking about doing my own flowers, I am staring to love this centerpiece idea.

47b6d72

I first saw it on The Pissed Off Bride. After doing a little more investigation, I found the original post on Ikea Hacker (a blog that every armature decorator should know.) So...........then after even more investigation I found Julie Miko's blog (she is the photographer of the wonderful centerpiece idea.)

That is where I found these great images!

Can I recreate this?????

My God

This is so powerful~

Sweeter Than This by Katie Herzig

Cute and quirky

Lyrics: Life is boxes in back of our car,
Driving around with the dreams in a jar
And it's all right here
I'll feed you ramen and you'll braid my hair
Anything goes when you don't even care,
When you're this far in love

If it gets any sweeter than this,
I don't wanna know
I don't wanna know

I want a garden and you want a coke,
Living is simple when love isn't broke
You can fix anything, with a kiss

If it gets any sweeter than this,
I don't wanna know
If it gets any sweeter than this,
I don't wanna know

You read your book, baby I'll float away
Taking a nap on your lap in the shade,
I could hold your hand all day

If it gets any sweeter than this,
I don't wanna know
If it gets any sweeter than this,

I don't wanna know
If it gets any sweeter than this,
I don't wanna know
I don't wanna know
I don't wanna know

Signature Drink

I know that a signature drink is all the rage at wedding receptions now - but we are having beer, wine and champagne only.
My thought is we will greet the guest with champagne and then there will be a champagne toast.
I saw this from Martha Stewart a few months ago and feel in love with it.

Flavors to Savor

Here, she has placed flavored sugar cubes at the bottom the glass.
"Give bubbly a boost with jewel-like cranberry-, pomegranate-, and apricot-infused sugar cubes. Working in batches, soak cubes in a bowl of fruit concentrate or puree until completely saturated. Remove with a fork, and place on a wire rack (don't let them touch); let dry overnight. Present cubes at a champagne bar, or serve them in passed drinks. The sweet, tangy taste will keep guests sipping long after the toasts."
I thought another neat idea is to drop hard candy like La Vie Les Framboises in.
